Get cash. ATM, Debit and Credit Cards do not work without power. |

Fill all gas tanks and gas cans. |

Store or tie down anything that can become a flying missile. |

Stock up on toilet paper and non perishable food items. |

Purchase or rent a generator. For those that own a preliminary test should be done. |

Fill bath tubs with water. You want to make sure you have enough water for 3 days for people and pets. |

Make sure to check all flashlights and lanterns. |

Stock up on the batteries for the flashlights and lanterns. |

Move cars away from trees. |

Fill ice chest with ice and/or freezer packs. |

Freezer Packs can be made by freezing water in empty resealable soda and milk containers. |

Lower fridge and freezer temperatures. |

Move electronics away from windows. Also unplug unprotected electronics. |

Make sure your pets have enough food too. |

Make sure you have a supply of all your necessary medications. |

Portable radio that works on batteries or crank. |

Charge all Cell phones and computers. If you have a portable battery backup, make sure you charge that too. |

Charge any old smart phones you no longer use, these can still use certain apps such as the flashlight & camera. |

Automobile charger for cell phones. These now come in various formats. One recommendation |

is to use a USB formatted one and just swap the cables with the corresponding device. |

If you need to leave your home: |

Take copies of important documents you may need. (i.e. insurance cards or policies for medical, auto, homeowners) |

Take your credit and debit cards with you. |
3.) |
Leave temporary contact information with someone not leaving, (i.e. your phone, email or temporary address, just incase.) |
